Hi, I've been giving myself a crash course in x64dbg. I have some 20+ year old software that used to be fully unlocked back in the day but now isn't supported anymore. I remember there was a file that was emailed to me that I added in the program directory to take the program out of trial mode. I don't know what happened to that file at this point so I figure cracking the software might be the only option. It's not that advanced so I think it's possible.
When I'm searching for tutorials on what to look for in x64dbg is there a specific type of verification that this is called(the file verification). Most of what I see is guessing a verification code but I don't actually get an entry box when the software loads. It just automatically loads in trial mode so it must be looking for that file on startup.
Any help is appreciated. I've been trying to watch what I can on youtube. I'm not a programmer but have been around computers a long time and am not a total idiot...at least I hope.
