You know that saying blood is thicker than water well that applies to drawing it as well.Blood is thick and its consistency and color varies depending on how its shownBlood is red BUT not ultra neon red. Blood is rich is scarlet and when it is clumped together or dries it appears almost black. It may be a liquid but its thicker and wouldnt run as easily as water or other thin liquids. It has a reflective surface but its highlights are highly concentrated. Here is a simple step by step reference resource in case you ever need a visual guide to help you outwhen drawing blood for your own concepts. In terms of COLOR this was done with just the 5 colors you see on the top of this reference guide. Each step uses only the single color above it. No need for grabbing a slew of colorswhen it can be accomplished with only a handful! After learning about drawing a blood sphere material and dripswe take the next step of applying these techniques onto a character. In this case I choose the character Krystal who was also the base for an exercise on creating Facial Expressions.Weve had a lot of blood coverage on the site lately. If you are a Citizen member you can download our custom made blood brushes from over at our Brushes Resource Page.Or you can even watch the Video Tutorial on the creation of these brushes and how to make them on your own!
