Hello to all the wonderful and amazingly knowledgeable beings out there, please can you assist me!?

Background Info
  • I have recovered the contents of a laptop hard drive that was previously used as the main workstation for my cad/cam applications, It ran windows Vista Business x86.
  • It contains a piece of software call AlphaStair v7
  • It is developed by Planit/Vero/Alphacam, and uses the same HASP key as my Alphacam software, but has its own specific license file (.one) which has been lost to time.
  • However, they no longer support the AlphaStair software after it was discontinued. They will not issue license keys or answer support questions about it. A rather uptight company it would seem.
  • Nevertheless, the software works for what I need and has all my costing settings, preset standards and preferences, so I would like to gain access to the software once again enabling me to retrieve saved projects and still be able to work on them.
  • it's only occasionally I draw a staircase anymore, I dont want to have to spent lots of money just to draw out 4-5 staircases a year....
  • I still have the installation files
  • There is very little in the way of information on AlphaStair on the Internet, let alone the version I have which was the last Rev of the software that I know of!

So, the idea I first had, was to try and set up a new virtual machine with the same version of Windows Vista installed, and install the software on that.
Within the Virtual Machine, I installed the 2013 version of Planit CLS and the Sentinel Drivers, of which I found the installations for, on the old hard drive.

I attempted searching for and retrieving the relevant (or so I thought) registry data and exporting it, then transferring it to the virtual disk and merging. I thought this would overcome the problem of not having a original (.one) license file needed to add the keys to the CLS Manager.

Surely the CLS manager stores that information somewhere on the computer!?!?
Its not like the software would work with just the license file installed as you need the HASP Key anyway. They certainly don't make it easy!

The CLS Manager wont actually even run, so something is not right there. click on it but is just does... nothing.

Realizing that there is more at play here for instance there is some sort of the process which requires using the computers hardware footprint to generate a "servercode" and a "lockcode" in the CLS.

The second idea was to try to convert the physical hard drive to a virtual hard disk and see whether it will run at all... but then... the hardware its using will be different and will that invalidate the licensing... so yeah.....

I'm just at a dead end now as there is very little information specific to AlphaStair whether there is an easy way around this. There are so many cracks for 'AlphaCAM' There must be some sort of similar way to make the AlphaStair software useable again?

The whole program is only About 120MB's!!!

Please please, can somebody help me I have exhausted my own capabilities of figuring this out right now, I don't even have a starting point anymore.

Many thanks in Advance and wishing you all the best,
