Decrypting hashes without wordlists help

Hello, can anyone teach me how to use hashcat without wordlists? (I'm told by Onlykl that the GPU version doesn't require wordlists) but I haven't found a tutorial on youtube on how to crack without wordlists

it can be ran via cmd line for each specific item...char/alpha/special etc.

Their forum is pretty helpful, and there's plenty of information on their site on what commands to use for running a 'mask' attack
