Is it possible to develop an antivirus extension that, upon detection of a new type of ransomware, can effectively stop the file encryption process? Considering the difficulty of detecting and preventing unknown ransomware attacks, would it be a reasonable measure to include the ability to shut down the machine as a way to mitigate damage in extreme cases?
