Hello I was wondering if anybody could help me or point me in the right direction of somebody who could. I have a vehicle diagnostic tool with software up to 2009. I have software update discs that go up to 2017 however in order to put the newer software on the tool i need a valid licence which i don't have (seller of the software neglected to say the licence had expired).
The tool has a removable cartridge which you plug into your PC via a USB lead and this is how you update the software.
My existing licence expired in 2012 and the software knows. I have tried disconnecting from the internet, resetting all date and time, fully uninstalling the software and removing Reg files but some how it still knows the licence isn't valid. I have tried some program which should force the date and time on the software but again no luck.
I've tried looking into breaking programs and bypassing stuff. I downloaded OLLYDBG in an attempt to see what the software is doing. I could just about make out that the software requests the licence (from the cartridge) and then validates it. I tried breaking that operation but nothing came of it.
So basically can anybody shed any light on this. The software to me looks very basic and I'd assume (out of ignorance) it wouldn't be that hard to stop the program validating the licence, however I know nothing about this sort of thing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.
