• EmEditor, a windows text viewer that specializes in reading huge files quickly.

• Why? It's brilliant for viewing SQL dumps. Works fine with files over 1gb. Absolutely kills Notepad ++

• Beyond compare, a windows file comparison utility. Kind of like diff for windows with a much more powerful gui.

• Why? Not only can it compare files in hex or ascii, it does CSV and folder comparison, even compares inside zip files as well !

• InSSIDer, a wireless network analysis software. The only good windows WiFi tool since NetStumbler died out.

• Why? Shows you very detailed information about wireless networks. I recommend the older v3.1.2.1 which is free.

Plus something to spoof your MAC address.

• Soonware MAC address changer v2.0, allows you to force Windows to assign a fake MAC hardware address for your WiFi.

• Why? Works well with a lot of different hardware. Supports Windows 7 and 8. Haven't tested on 10 but probably works as well.

• RegShot. Take a snapshot of windows registry before and after software installs.

• Why? Captures file changes and also registry changes, simple to use.

• Capture-BAT. Allows to save files which are automatically deleted during software execution.

• Why? Humans are too slow. Capture files that are temporarily saved by software, which would normally be deleted.
