Weird VPN question

about a month ago I noticed that Craigslist made a change, where if you browse or post on their site it goes horrible slow. Other sites work fine , just theirs comes to a crawl. Happens with other VPN software too. Are they doing some sort of reverse lookup to harvest your info?
