Why do users change passwords?

So maybe I'm misunderstanding: A cracked account is one in which an account already exists. So if a user from a cracking forums changes the password, wouldn't the original account owner notice then re change the password? Never made sense to me why people from here change passwords

Yes however sometimes you can secure the account by removing things like their emails and replacing it with your own and phone numbers etc.
