Basic Glitch Effect in Photoshop (Not Animated)

Pretty simple & easy tutorial for RGB split (or glitch) text.

This is what we will be making (font Heavitas)

  • Step #1

File -> New -> 600x200 pixels (HF signature size)

Using text tool write whatever you want in black.

*Optional* Color background layer in whatever color you want (I'm using #88a38d)

Make 2 copies of your text layer, CTRL + J or by right clicking on your original layer ("Meow" in my case) -> Duplicate Layer -> Ok

Do that 3 times and when you are done you should have something like this.

Double click on your 1st copy ("Meow copy") layer and under chanels uncheck R & G and click Ok.

Double click on your 2st copy ("Meow copy 2") layer and under chanels uncheck R & B and click ok.

Double click on your 3rd copy ("Meow copy 3") layer and under chanels uncheck B & G and click ok.

Using arrow keys move your layers (one by one) little to the left/right/down/up (however you feel)
You must reply to see the hidden content. Consider upgrading your account to increase your reply limit.

Play around with it for a bit and hopefully you should get something like this.
